We are pleased to announce the launching of the Lotos Foundation Society, created to build a legacy for the arts and sciences. Membership in the Society will consist of those who have remembered the Lotos Foundation in their estate plans via bequests in their will or from designated assets such as an IRA, charitable remainder trust, 401K, life insurance, or donor-advised fund. The funds raised from bequests to the Society will enhance the Foundation’s endowment to support future grants and prizes.
Since the inception of the Foundation in 2000, the Foundation has awarded grants to 170 institutions and prizes to 100 individuals, totaling over one million dollars. These awards flow from the Foundation’s mission: to support and encourage excellence in the arts and sciences, specifically designated toward talented, deserving New York City youth. They truly make a difference in the lives and careers of the recipients.
To ensure the long-term success of the Foundation, we are asking members and friends to consider including the Foundation in their estate planning, providing an important source of funds for future support of our mission.
To become a member of the Society, participants should submit a letter stating their intent. A sample is attached. While a bequest amount needs to be specified in one’s will or financial document, it is helpful but not required that the amount be disclosed in the letter.
We believe the launch of the Society is an important milestone in the Foundation’s history and we hope you will join the effort.
Sincerely,
Patrick J. Frawley
